Annual Appeal
Litchfield Community Center

Dear Friend:
The American writer Oliver Wendell Holmes said about growth, “The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.” Thanks to your continued support, our dedicated staff and volunteers, and the countless visitors that walk through the doors each year, your Community Center is growing in directions we never could imagine nine years ago. Newcomers to the Center marvel at the building's beauty, the vast array of events and programs in which to participate, and an immediate sense of cooperative spirit. Long-time friends often ask, “What did we do before the Community Center was here?”
The Litchfield Community Center is certainly aptly named. To Litchfield come people from all parts of the state and beyond who celebrate family occasions, hold meetings, learn new skills, share experiences, keep fit, go on excursions, or experience cultural events. In these times of tenuous interpersonal and group relationships, the concept of Community is both honored and encouraged here. Whether you come every week or once a year, you belong. And the Center is exactly that: a central location, a meeting place, a pivotal point. This is the place to discuss important issues, to rejuvenate the soul, to expand one's knowledge, or to bring people together.
Although the Center's focus is, and always will be, the community, the maintenance of the building and grounds and the operation of the programs are based solely on private funding and the financial support of our friends and benefactors. With no assistance from federal, state, or local government, our success depends on those we serve, both through their participation and their generous gifts to the Center.
This year, the Board of Directors has set a goal of $25,000 for this Annual Appeal. Please consider a donation that is reflective of your belief in and commitment to this incredible place. If yours is a first-time gift, please know you may begin at any level of giving; we are truly appreciative of what you can offer. If you've given consistently, I encourage you to increase your gift to allow us to continue to offer such varied programming and to maintain the comfortable environment that we all have come to enjoy.
Always know that the Center is here for you. Stop by to say hello to the staff, spend some time exploring a new hobby, take a day trip to somewhere you've never been, attend a lecture, or come to a benefit dinner or concert. The Center is moving forward, and we want you along!
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity.
Warmly,
Lynn Rice Scozzafava, President
